How much does tree removal cost in Fife and Dundee?

Size and species

Height and spread are the obvious factors, but species matters too. Large conifers and sycamores produce a lot of timber and brash to deal with, while smaller ornamental trees can often be taken down in a morning.

What is underneath the tree

A tree standing in open ground can sometimes be felled in one piece. A tree over a roof, conservatory, greenhouse, garage or a neighbour's garden has to be dismantled in sections and lowered on ropes. That takes longer and needs more people, and it is the single biggest reason prices differ.

Access

If everything has to be carried through the house or down a narrow path, as in many walled gardens in Broughty Ferry, St Andrews and Kirkcaldy, the job takes longer than one where a chipper can be parked beside the tree.

Stump grinding and waste

Grinding the stump out below ground level is optional and priced separately in your quote. Chipping and removing all branches and timber should always be included — check that any quote you get says so.

Permission

If the tree is protected by a Tree Preservation Order or stands in a conservation area, consent or notice is needed from the council first. We check this before quoting.

Do you take the wood away?
