A garden makeover does not have to happen all at once. Most of the Fife gardens we transform are done in stages, and the order you do things in makes a far bigger difference to cost than the materials you choose.
Start with clearance and ground
Clearing overgrowth, removing waste and sorting out levels and drainage is the foundation of everything else. It is also the part that is most expensive to redo later, so it is worth doing properly first.
Spend on what you walk on
Lawns, paths and patios get the most use. A well-prepared turf lawn is one of the most affordable ways to make a garden feel finished, and good ground preparation matters more than the most expensive turf.
Phase the bigger items
Fencing, paving and planting can follow in later stages. We can plan the whole garden at the start so each phase fits the next.

Where not to cut corners
Cheap bases under artificial grass or paving, and turf laid on compacted builder's ground, fail quickly in Scottish weather. Saving there usually costs more later.
