What we provide
Carefully finished hedge maintenance.
A well-kept hedge frames a garden, gives you privacy and shelters planting from Scotland's wind. Left too long, it shades out the border, creeps over the pavement and becomes far harder to bring back into shape. We trim, reduce and reshape hedges of all sizes for homes across Fife, Dundee, Angus and Perthshire — from a short beech boundary to long-established leylandii and privet that have grown well above head height and need bringing back under control safely.

What's included
Everything covered in a typical hedge maintenance job
Hedge cutting
Routine trimming of sides and tops to keep growth dense, even and within the boundary line, using sharp equipment for a clean finish rather than a torn one.
Hedge reshaping and reduction
Bringing overgrown hedges back to a manageable height and width, re-establishing straight lines and tapered sides so light reaches the base.
Regular maintenance visits
Scheduled cuts once or twice a year so the hedge never gets away from you, arranged to suit the species and how formal you want it to look.
Full waste removal
All clippings raked up, collected and taken away, including from borders, paths and driveways.

Why choose us for hedge maintenance
Hedge work looks simple until you are halfway along a fifty metre run trying to keep the top level. We are fully insured, work tidily around planting and paving, and take the time to get lines and tapers right so the hedge looks deliberate rather than merely shortened. We also know how hard to cut each species — beech, privet, laurel and conifer all respond very differently.
Hedge Maintenance in Fife, Dundee, Angus and Perthshire
Coastal and exposed gardens across Fife and Angus rely on hedges as windbreaks, so we avoid cutting so hard that shelter is lost in a single visit. Conifer hedges common in Dundee and Perthshire suburbs will not regrow from old bare wood, which means reductions need to be planned over time rather than taken back in one go. We will always tell you honestly what a hedge can take.

Common questions
Hedge Maintenance FAQs
How often should my hedge be cut?
Most formal hedges in Scotland look best with two cuts a year, typically late spring and late summer. Slower-growing or informal hedges are often fine with a single annual cut.
When should hedges not be trimmed?
Wild birds nest between roughly March and August and their nests are legally protected. We check hedges before starting and will postpone work where an active nest is found.
Can you reduce the height of a very overgrown hedge?
In most cases yes. With deciduous hedges such as beech or privet we can take a significant reduction in one visit. With conifers we usually stage the work, because cutting back into old brown wood will not regrow.
Do you take the clippings away?
Yes, removal and disposal of all clippings is included unless you would rather keep them for composting.
Do you cut hedges on shared boundaries?
We do, but you are only entitled to cut growth on your side of the boundary. If both neighbours want the whole hedge done we are happy to arrange that between you.

What customers say
Reviews from our Facebook page
“Lee and team did a garden clearance for me after moving into a property with a pretty neglected garden, including a pretty hefty ivy growth on the back of the house. They did an absolutely cracking job of clearing all the growth, the ivy, some unexpected branch piles and taking away all the rubbish. Did in a day what would have taken me many days to do myself. Also got some great advice on the next steps of bringing the garden back to life.”
“Had Lee and team lay a patio and path. Work was done in a good manner and to a high standard, everything was left clean and tidy and nothing was too much hassle. Thanks Mr McDonald.”
“I can’t recommend this landscaping business enough! They turned our overgrown garden into exactly what we wanted. Showed up on time every day, worked efficiently, and left everything tidy when they finished. Great value for money and really friendly service – will definitely be using them again.”
